Maggie Grace and Maggie Gyllenhaal

Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21, 1983 in Worthington Ohio, is an American actress. She is famous for playing Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills respectively in ABC's Lost TV show. Originally from Worthington Ohio she left high school to move into Los Angeles with her mother following her divorce from her parents. As she struggled financially, she was able to land her first role as the title character in the video on-demand show Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002 she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford was the character Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons of 2004 as well as sharing the Screen Actors Guild Award (with other cast members) alongside her. Grace decided to concentrate on film after playing opposite Tom Welling's character in The Fog, in 2005. The following year, she starred as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. She reprised this role in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). In addition, she played Alice on Malice in Wonderland which is an updated version of the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played the role as Shannon in two more episodes of Lost which included the finale of the series. The year was 2013, and she appeared in the sixth episode of Californication. She plays Faith, a groupie who serves as a model for the stars, and draws the eye to Hank Moody (David Duchovny). As a member of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older cousin of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as a teenager with small appearances in the films of her father and starred alongside her brother in the famous cult classic Donnie Darko (2001). She appeared next in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal won critical praise in both of her roles as the main character actress in Secretary (2002) as well as in Sherrybaby (2006), the erotic drama about romance as well as Sherrybaby (2006). The actress received a nomination from the Golden Globe Award. In the wake of several successful commercial films like World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). For her performance as an unmarried mom in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She subsequently starred in the comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (2012). Other roles she has played included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 an action thriller), musicians in Frank (2014 and drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to the role of the kindergarten teacher. The debut of Gyllenhaal as a writer and director was in 2021 with The Lost Daughter, a psychological thriller for which she received the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. In addition, she was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
